5 Ideas To Jazz Up The Walls Of Your Work Place

Decorating an office can be quite a challenge. Finding the décor and furniture that is stylish, trendy and reflects your company’s core philosophy can take quite a bit of effort. At the same time, offices are constantly looking to innovate the work space and give it an edge that inspires employees and imbue the work space with a style and whimsy.

Here are 5 great ideas to decorate the walls at the work place for a look that is innovative, trendy and eye catching. Pair these stunning walls with the right office furniture for a space that employees will love working in.

1)    Whitewashed Brick Effect
Bricks add a charming effect to your wall space and are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They maintain the charisma and allure of days gone by while still adding a modern touch. They help give a rustic look that has plenty of character and can go a long way in making your office space an inviting one. Complement this beautiful look with either custom office furniture in the same color or reverse the colors completely.

2)    Bright Solid Colors
Choose a color palette that has fun and bright shades. So, you make use of colors like oranges, reds, yellows, rich blues, greens, etc and choose a floor that has a contrasting effect. Match it with natural wooden custom designed office furniture at the office. A bright splash of color can make a room look young, vibrant and energetic, making you feel energized to take on the day.

3)    Stripes and Patterns
An instant way to ginger up a room is to use stripes and patterns. It is different and fun. You could go for vertical and diagonal to geometrical and asymmetrical stripes. The choice is in your hands and they are plenty. Make sure the striped edges stay sharp to add an exquisite appeal to the room.

4)    Wall Art
Get your thinking caps on and create a design of your choice without having to touch paint at all. Use a sharpie or any pen with indelible ink that will write on any surface and the options are endless. You can even use multiple canvases to connect and make a singular piece of art. It is all about giving the room a personalized elegant spin.

5)    Wallpaper
Wallpapers let you create a sophisticated vibe in the room without having to invest too much. For maximum impact, pick a wall that has no windows and doors, and then cover the rest of the room the same color as the color of the background of the wallpaper.

5 Décor And Furniture Trends For The Modern Workplace

The office is a dynamic space that is constantly evolving to reflect the changing perspectives of the times. To understand the office in the context of the new millennium, let’s take a quick look at a few trends in décor and furniture that are shaping the modern workplace. Not just for aesthetic reasons, these trends are essentially changing the way the modern employee works as well as the role of the office in daily life and how it functions as a fluid and adaptive space.

1.    Open spaces race ahead of cubicles

With the second tech boom in the new millennium, firms slowly woke up to the need for open spaces in the office. These spaces promoted collaboration while also incubating a culture that was built on a foundation of innovation, creativity and conversation.

A direct result of this shift is that more organizations are moving away from cubicles in the work place are opting instead for desks with low partitions in more organic clusters or structures to facilitate dialogue.

Most offices also opt for wide open spaces at the work place that give employee’s literal and figurative “room to grow”.

2.    Acoustics is a growing priority for large firms

With the shift toward open plan offices, noise in the work place has definitely become a point of concern. After all you can’t really expect an office designed for collaboration to be relatively silent right?

Consequently, acoustics has become a necessary consideration with designing modern day offices. From padded walls, to conference room furniture that is made of the correct raw materials, almost all offices implement subtle techniques in design and décor to dampen noise in the office.

3.    Individuality and personality are the new décor buzz words

While consistency and uniformity were the hall marks of office furniture and design in the last few decades, the past couple of years have witnessed a slow yet consistent shift towards encouraging individuality at the work place. From adjustable desks that let you stand or sit, to a mish-mash of workstation styles in the same office, modern offices are designed to facilitate and expression of individual style. In this prevalent ethos, standing out is easier than fitting in.

4.    Literal and figurative flexibility

With organizational structures growing flatter, it is no surprise that modular or reconfigurable furniture is growing in popularity. This allows different teams to work together on a project basis and furniture to cater to different situations differently, based on the needs of the hour.
From conference room furniture designs that can expand to accommodate more people based on the requirement to movable rooms, this level of customisation makes the workplace a dynamic structure that is constantly adapting and growing instead of staying static and rigid in the face of progress and development.

5.    The economics of ergonomics

It would be a little unfair to consider comfort and ergonomics a trend but you cannot deny that these two concepts are taking over the modern work space. From small touches such as couches and bean bags to investing in ergonomically optimized furniture; companies are waking up to the fact that comfortable employees are productive employees.

As a result, companies are willing to invest a lot more in purchasing ergonomic furniture. With working hours growing longer and longer, this style of furniture makes it easier for employees to work longer hours with minimal discomfort. This indirectly also affects the ethos and work philosophies of a company.

Places We Wish We Could Hold Corporate Meetings!

If you are done with boring meetings at the workplace then this blog is right up your alley. We’ve put together a fun list of some places we wish we could have those dreary corporate meetings. Not only would they be way more fun, but we would actually end up looking forward to them too!

Meadow
A meadow is place that most people associate with their childhood. Having a boardroom presentation in the lushness of a meadow is what my dreams are currently made of.

Stand-up comedy bar
Think about it. Corporate meetings were meant to be held in a comedy theater. Conference rooms are full of jokes that fall flat or never quite take off. Maybe with the right atmosphere your colleagues might actually be able to find their funny bone. And banging your hand on a bar table looks far more appropriate rather than on a modern conference table.

Bowling Alley
Most people are jittery before presenting at a big meeting. Bowling a strike or two is a great way to break to break the ice and get the ball rolling, figuratively speaking. An added benefit is that the lanes of bowling alleys can easily break the somberness of conference room furniture.

Ice cream parlors
Everybody melts at the sight of this sugary delight. Facing and crunching tough numbers and bad sale figures will go down a lot easier with these creamy cold treats. Serve up a bad quarterly report along with an ice-cream sundae at an ice cream parlor instead of a conference table, it might end on a surprisingly sweet note.

Skydiving
Holding hands and forming groups is a common activity practiced while skydiving. Surprisingly it’s the same in the board room where senior employees often have to hand hold less experienced staff through difficult meetings and projects.
Why not while performing this adrenaline fueled activity then? After all no modern meeting room furniture can match the wide open skies.

Tree house
As children we used to join forces to make plans to execute some rather difficult missions that were more often than not successful. Boardroom presentations aim to achieve similar objectives. Why not conduct them at tree houses to recapture that spirit of limitless possibilities and childish whimsy?

Yoga Classes
Yoga is known to calm nerves and boost confidence. Two things that are needed most in any boardroom meetings. Conducting meetings at a yoga studio will be beneficial not just financially but also health wise. Swap boring conference tables for colorful yoga mats and breathe in and breathe out.
